Prototyping Gallery

Rapid Prototyping is the craft of being able to create a real world product or part from a computer design. In the case here I am using the Rhinoceros 4 3D design software and the Roland MDX-15 CNC mill to produce projects.

The following are some projects created in 2008-2009 using a small subtractive prototyping method.

November 2008. This cat figurine was the first two part mold I designed based upon a character designed in 2004.

December 2008. This snowman pin was designed rather quickly as not only a gift for coworkers but also as a method of trying out new casting materials.

January 2009. Reverse engineering. A toy head was scanned three dimensionally. The resulting point cloud data was reshaped and milled into a mold where it was cast and placed back onto the toy.

May 2009. A jointed figurine. This project features a figure with swivel joints built into the arms and neck.
