Video Project Archive

In May of 2002 I was contacted by a local producer to be the creative consultant for a TV show pilot.

The goal was to develop composite special effects for a docudrama that reenacts famous local ghost stories. The director requested that the ghosts look human but also blend the traits of ‘ghost photography’ and Hollywood style ghosts.

The first attempt was to do all the ghosts within 3D Studio Max, as rigged characters with glowing transparency maps and particle emitted mist. I determined that based on the shows turnaround time that it would be cost and time effective to save these effects for special occasions. Green screen shots with the actors modified in Adobe After Effects met the time needs and still produced the required aesthetic.
